AI in the Health Information Exchange Ecosystem” will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way health information is collected, standardized, exchanged, and leveraged across communities.

The discussion will highlight how AI can enhance data quality, streamline interoperability, and automate traditionally manual HIE processes such as data normalization, identity matching, onboarding, and clinical document handling. Real‑world examples—like predictive risk models, NLP applied to unstructured records, and AI‑assisted public‑health surveillance—will illustrate the growing value of combining statewide or regional HIE datasets with modern analytics.”

The session will also address the governance implications of AI use within trusted exchange networks, including privacy, transparency, bias mitigation, and alignment with frameworks like TEFCA and emerging FHIR‑based exchange models. By examining both opportunities and guardrails, the webinar will outline how HIEs can serve as foundational platforms for responsible AI adoption by health systems, Medicaid MCOs, public health agencies, and other community partners.

The Florida HIE Transitioning to New Technology Partner

Preserving Core Services, Expanding to a Full-Service HIE Platform for the Future

The Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE) enables secure, reliable sharing of health information across health care entities statewide.

To help further achieve the Florida HIE’s founding mission of transforming Florida health care through health information technology, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has selected CRISP Shared Services (CSS)—a nationally recognized leader in health information exchange—to serve as the new operations and technology partner for the Florida HIE. This partnership will bring expanded services at current costs to all participants. By partnering with CSS, Florida HIE is ensuring consistent connectivity for patient-centered care, while striving to improve quality, safety, and efficiency across Florida’s health care system.

There will be five onboarding groups for the Florida HIE data source participants and subscribers, with Group A beginning in September. Each phased group will begin legal and administrative onboarding alongside technical integrations and conclude with end-user onboarding and training. Once all groups have completed integration and the system is populated with data, we will initiate a streamlined cutover to the Florida HIE’s new technology platform, powered by CSS, in Spring/Summer 2026. You can expect:

  • No interruption to notifications, patient records, or current integrations.
  • Hands-on support from AHCA and CSS throughout the transition at no cost.
  • Tailored onboarding based on each organization’s size, systems, and provider needs.
  • Maintaining current fees. The Florida HIE is committed to providing expanded services with no increase to current fees.

Join Us for a HIPAA & Patient Consent Learning Session!

Healthcare professionals handle sensitive patient information every day—yet the rules that guide when and how that information can be shared aren’t always straightforward.

While HIPAA provides a framework that allows essential data exchange for treatment, payment, and healthcare operations, additional consent may be required for special data sets like 42 CFR Part II.

This session will help providers and staff strengthen their understanding of HIPAA, clarify when additional patient consent may be required, and reinforce best practices that support highquality care and patient privacy.

Join Nichole Sweeney (VP and General Counsel; Chief Privacy Officer), CRISP Shared Services and the Florida Health Information Exchange team on March 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM (ET) to deepen your knowledge and ensure your team stays confident and compliant.
